An ever-growing evidence base

shows that mindfulness and mindful movement practices can make a major contribution to health, wellbeing, rehabilitation and disease prevention and we are committed to making them available throughout our city.

BNHF supports local partners

such as charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in the city, including in the most deprived areas. We identify local needs and help deliver services to those who might not normally access them.

BNHF builds strong relationships with the NHS, the Council, schools, health services and GP surgeries,

serving as a reliable first point of reference for health professionals and social prescribers seeking accredited and experienced teachers/trainers for those with mental, physical or social needs.

online health and well-being classes and courses

BNHF will provide qualified teachers, free and low-cost classes in mindfulness, relaxation techniques, yoga, tai chi, pilates, dance and similar activities.

The need we are addressing

A Brighton and Hove Council publication recently highlighted the considerable mental health and well-being challenges facing our City, including the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and the cost-of-living crisis.

Similarly, Sport England has published a national strategy to tackle health inequalities and health challenges, and to encourage wider participation in grassroots physical activity.

How we are addressing the need

BNHF will play an important role in improving the well-being of Brighton and Hove’s residents who are struggling with their mental, physical and social health. Partnering with multiple communities throughout the City we will offer skilled and vetted class leaders to run sessions in mindful movement practices proven to support physical and emotional wellbeing.
